Female patient receiving acupuncture treatment

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the oldest healing practices in the world, originating in China over 3,000 years ago. It involves the careful insertion of ultra-fine, sterile needles at specific points on the body along the meridian system — pathways through which Qi (vital energy) flows.

When Qi becomes blocked or imbalanced, physical and emotional symptoms arise. Acupuncture restores the smooth flow of Qi, activates the body's natural healing response, regulates the nervous system and promotes deep relaxation. Modern research supports its effectiveness for pain management, stress reduction and much more.

Female patient receiving NADA ear acupuncture treatment

NADA (Ear Acupuncture)

NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) is a gentle yet powerful auricular (ear) acupuncture protocol that uses five specific points on the outer ear. Originally developed to support addiction recovery, NADA has since been widely adopted for its profound calming effects on the nervous system.

Fine, sterile needles are placed in the ear and left in place for 30–45 minutes while you rest quietly. The treatment is deeply relaxing — many clients fall asleep. It works by regulating the autonomic nervous system, reducing the stress response and promoting a sense of calm and clarity.

NADA is particularly effective for emotional and mental health concerns and can be used as a standalone treatment or in combination with body acupuncture for enhanced results.

Female practitioner performing Hijama (wet cupping) treatment on a female patient

Hijama (Wet Cupping)

Hijama, also known as wet cupping therapy, is an ancient healing practice mentioned in Islamic medicine and used across many cultures for thousands of years. It involves the application of suction cups to the skin, followed by small, superficial incisions to draw out stagnant blood — a process believed to remove toxins and metabolic waste from the body.

By removing this stagnant blood, Hijama stimulates fresh blood flow, activates the immune system, reduces inflammation and promotes profound healing throughout the body. Many clients report feeling deeply cleansed, revitalised and energised after a session.

All Hijama treatments at Vireya are performed with full safety protocols, using sterile, single-use equipment in a clean and professional environment.

Female patient receiving Tui na massage

Tui na Massage

Tui na (pronounced "twee-nah") is a form of Chinese therapeutic massage that has been practised for over 3,000 years. Unlike Western massage which primarily focuses on muscles, Tui na works on the body's meridian system and acupuncture points to regulate the flow of Qi and restore balance.

Using a range of hand techniques — including pressing, kneading, rolling, brushing and percussion — Tui na targets specific areas to relieve pain, improve joint mobility, release muscle tension and enhance the flow of Qi and Blood through the meridians.

Tui na is particularly effective as part of an integrated TCM treatment plan, often combined with acupuncture for enhanced results.

Allied Treatments

Our allied treatments complement and enhance your primary treatment, working together for deeper, longer-lasting results.

Cupping therapy on a female patient's back

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is a therapy in which special cups (glass, silicone or bamboo) are placed on the skin and suction is created — either through heat or a pump — to lift the skin and underlying tissue. This reverse pressure draws blood to the surface, breaking up stagnation and releasing tension deep in the muscles and fascia.

Unlike massage which pushes down into the muscles, cupping pulls upward — loosening tight connective tissue, separating layers of fascia and drawing toxins to the surface for elimination. It is deeply relaxing and often used on the back, neck and shoulders.

The characteristic circular marks left by cupping are not bruises — they indicate the degree of stagnation in the underlying tissue and typically fade within a few days.

Moxibustion therapy on the neck of a female patient

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a traditional TCM therapy that uses the burning of moxa — a dried herb made from mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) — to warm and stimulate acupuncture points on the body. The gentle heat penetrates deeply, nourishing and tonifying Qi and Blood.

Moxa can be applied in various ways — directly on the skin, on the end of acupuncture needles, or using moxa sticks held above the skin. It is particularly indicated when a patient presents with cold, deficiency or stagnation patterns according to TCM diagnosis.

Moxibustion is often used alongside acupuncture to enhance its effects, providing a deeply warming and nourishing treatment experience.

Cold-type pain (arthritis, joint pain)
Digestive weakness & poor appetite
Menstrual pain & irregularity
Fertility support (breech baby turning)
Fatigue & immune deficiency
Urinary frequency

Moxibustion is used as part of acupuncture treatment and is not offered as a standalone session.
